Miss Natalie Kleinschmitt. to James Verl Rowe. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rowe Both young people are seniors at Salem high school. No date is set for the wedding. Griei-Wolf Mr. and Mrs. Joseph II. Wolf of Suhlimily are announcing the engagement of their daugh ter. Miss Dolores Marie Wolf, to John P. Gries. son of Mr and Mrs. Peter J. Gries, also of Sublimity. Both young people are grad uates of St. Boniface high, school. No date has been set for the wedding I Two Betrothals Told At a Christmas party two Stayton girls announced their engagements, the party being at the home of Mr. and Mrs Irving Palmer. Miss Elaine Dcjardin, daugh ter of Mrs. Julian Dejardin, told of her betrothal to Theo dore Highberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Highberger, of Aumsville. Miss Dejardin is employed at the First National bank in Stayton. Mr. Highber ger is attending Portland uni versity. Miss Marilyn Palmer, daugh ter of the Irving Palmers, an nounced her engagement to James Gries, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Gries of Sublim ity. Miss Palmer is employed In the office of the Stayton cannery. Mr. Gries is employed with the Freres Building Sup ply company at Stayton. The wedding date has not been an nounced. Paul-Dewey Another bride-elect Is Miss Patricia Dewey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dewey, her engagement to Vernon Eugene Paul, .son of Mr. and Mrs. John Goldade, bring announced. An early summer wedding is plan ned. Miss Dewey is a senior at Salem high school. Mr. Paul is a correctional officer. Surgeon-Dahlquist From Portland comes news of the engagement of Miss Bev erly Dahlquist. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dahlquist of that city, to Wyatt Randall Surgeon, son of Mrc. WEEK-END SUPPER Smoked Tongue Mashed Potatoes Salad-Filled Rolls Mincemeat Loaf Beverage Mineemeat Loaf Ingredients: 2 cups sifted flour, 4 teaspoons baking pow der, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 egg (beatenl, ? cup milk, 2 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed!, 3 tablespoons Duller or margarine (melted), 1 cup moist mincemeat. Method: Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix together egg, milk, brown su gar, melted butter and mime meat. Add to dry ingredients, tirring only enough to mois ten. Pour into greased loaf pan (8x4'jx2'i inches). Bake in moderate iBAOF.i oven 1 hour or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan; cool on rack. Salem Man To Be Wed Announced in Portland re cently was the engagement of Miss Snllie Sue McGuirk to Richard Duane Barber of Sa lem. The bride-elect is the (laugh tier oi iwr. ana ivirs. naiier ; Thomas McGuirk of Portland. She attended University of Oregon where she is a member of Chi Omega sorority. Mr. Barber is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill L. Barber of Salem. He is a graduate of University of Oregon and is now attending law school at Willamette university. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi. They will leave on January 18, for San Bernardino, Calif., where Sgt. Voosen is stationed. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Konopa on Kiirlh street. Skyline road. The Rev. Wayne Bryant performed the double ring ceremony before an altar of i double crecen.s of white tap- eri, holly and while spray chrsanthemums. John Rob ertson played the organ and i Miss Edith Parrish was voca list, accompanied b y Elery Tarrish. Miss Alice Standley lighted the tapers. The aisle post was decorated with lightcu cand les, holly and white bow s Given in marriage by her father, the bride wo'e a white slipper satin dress with trum pet beads, long sleeves, fitted bodice with an illusion high neckline and train. The front of the skirt had an inset of net with scalloped satin to form a redingote effect. A fin gertip length veil was caught to a tiara of white ruffled net with seed pearls. The bride car ried a crescent shaped bouquet of white carnations with garnet rose center and tied with a garnet bow. Mrs. Cherri Riley, sister of the bride, was matron of hon or and wore an orchid satin dress. She carried a nosegay of white carnations with met alic tulle tied with a garnet ribbon. Miss Pat Standley and Mrs. Milbre Sipe, both sisters of the bride were the bridsmaids and wore identical frocks of pale green satin. They carried nosegays of white carnations with metallic tulle and orchid ribbons. Carroll Riley was the flow er girl and wore a floor length dress of orchid salin. fashion ed like that worn by the mat ron of honor. J. D. Gregory was his bro ther's best man, and ushers were Richard Bales and Bob Haner. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Standley wore a rose crepe dress with a jacket and black accessories, and a cor sage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Gregory, mother of the bridegroom wore an aqua crepe dress and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The reception followed In the church parlors with Mrs. Fred Robertson In charge. Cutting the cake was Mrs. Gcno Marson, sister of the bridegroom and serving the cake was Miss Alice Standley. Pouring were Miss Elnora Aydelott and Mrs. Earl Jay. nes.
